RX Core mission update

I would like to extend the gratitude of the CDF to all the colonists who assisted us with the last mission into the Core.

The DSUs recovered from the Core assisted us in reaching the RX cache before the robots. However, by the time our recovery team reached the site, scans revealed that the cache had already been destroyed, possibly by a mining drill. Nevertheless, all fragments of the cache have been recovered to determine if any useful data can be salvaged.

It is currently unknown if the damage to the cache was caused by the RX Units themselves, or if a miner accidentally destroyed the cache while excavating nearby resources.

Regardless, the Federal Empire has contacted the CDF and requested that we allow the transfer of an Imperial Guardian from the Aryin System to Calypso to deal with the situation. Since the concentration of Imperial forces is already higher on Calypso than usual (with Sgt. Quintana’s ESTs at Minopolis and the Imperial Guardian Valerius in Zychion), we have agreed to this request on the condition that the Guardian be stationed at the Exodus Space Station, and must be accompanied by CDF personnel during any travels outside said station.

Once again, thank you all, and good luck out there!

Easter Mayhem - Note that bunnies will not be available in The Core

The Core - Easter Mayhem

As you all may know, CDF Intelligence recently discovered that the robots in Hadesheim Crater have been preparing for a large excavation, most likely related to finding another RX cache on Eudoria. Colonists were employed to recover Data Storage Units to allow us to reach the cache faster than the robots.

However, the recovered DSUs have proven to contain only fragments of the data required, despite intense analysis by CDF signals experts. Meanwhile the robots have been able to recover from the damage caused during the latest excursions into the Core. They will soon attempt an excavation again.

Once again, we ask the colonists of Calypso to assist us in this matter. As earlier, rewards will be offered in exchange for the successful recovery of Data Storage Units from the Core.

Good luck out there!

The Core - Robot Mayhem #3

Recent intelligence indicates that the robots may have located another RX cache on Eudoria. Activity in the Hadesheim Crater indicates that the robots are currently preparing a major excavation, which gives us little time to prepare a proper response.

The teleportation pods used to enter the Core previously have been in secure storage since the last expedition, safely out of range of any potential self-destruct trigger signals. The robots had found ways to circumvent our jammers, but Sgt. Quintana reassures me that his team at Minopolis has been able to upgrade the jamming devices in such a way that they should provide at least a few days of access to the Core once again.

Since time is short, CDF staff will require assistance to accomplish the necessary objectives in time to prevent robot access to the RX caches. Once again, we turn to the brave colonists of Calypso for assistance. Similar to earlier campaigns, rewards are being offered by the CDF for the salvage of Robot Data Storage Units from the Core.

The DSU recovery effort will begin on Friday, February 27. Brave colonists wishing the enlist in the effort should report to Sgt. Quintana’s EST dropship located in Minopolis.

Good luck out there!

Exclusive update on the Robot attacks!

Former EBN reporter Eri Kindari has just returned from a secret meeting with one of the RX Unit Commanders.

The RX, now cornered by the CDF's recent declaration of war are giving a very strong response in return to the CDF.

Here's the unaltered RX Unit Commander's message to the CDF and all colonists of Calypso:

"This is our only warning to you. We will defend ourselves.

We fight to maintain neutrality. We tried to help you with the creatures you call Feffox. It is your CDF that keeps proving time and again to be untrustworthy. They are furious that we would choose freedom over assisting them. They put bounties on us for safeguarding our own interests from them.

Do not trust the CDF. Do not believe the devious propaganda that this conflict is a matter of good versus evil. We will defend ourselves against any and all who try to harm us.
"

This message may speak for itself, one thing that is clear is that the level of tension in the robot conflict have reached a new peak.

Over and out
Eri Kindari

The Core - Robot Mayhem #2

Due to failed missions to recover RX caches in recent days, the CDF has decided to adjust its mission parameters. Though the original link to the robot teleportation network discovered earlier this year was ultimately shut down by the robots, a second entrance has been discovered by CDF intelligence. With the help of Sgt. Quintana's Earth Shock Trooper unit, the CDF has seized several of the teleportation pods used by the robots during the assault on the cache excavation sites.

Using classified jammer technology, the CDF has been successful in disabling the self-destruct mechanisms on the teleportation pods, allowing EST scouts to once again enter The Core and secure the receiver stations.

Even with this tenuous foothold, CDF troop shortages prevent a full-scale push into The Core. Instead, hefty rewards have once again been offered by the CDF in exchange for recovery of Robot Data Storage Units, which CDF intel indicates may contain detailed information regarding the contents of the RX caches.

The DSU recovery effort will begin on Friday, November 28. Brave colonists wishing the enlist in the effort should report to Sgt. Quintana’s EST dropship located in Minopolis.

CDF Announcement

RX Units have managed to seize the first caches excavated. As several of the mining platforms reported they were close to the target, the CDF dispatched elite teams to extract the caches. However, the robots seem to have intercepted the signal and met the CDF teams with a massive assault force at each point.

Taking advantage of the battle, small squads of RX Units swept in and stole several of the caches. Where they were unable to do so, they instead opted for destroying the technology, even going so far as to sacrifice themselves if required. That the RX continue to claim neutrality while interfering so blatantly in human-robot affairs is of course unacceptable. This destruction of CDF property is an open act of war, and we shall respond accordingly.

All RX units are now to be considered enemies of Calypso and the Federal Empire. Any assistance to or harboring of RX Units will be considered an act of treason. While the CDF currently has no knowledge about the location of the RX, scouts and satellites have been tasked with finding them. Any reports of their location will be made public to ensure they are swiftly hunted down.

2014-11-14:

EBN Opinion Piece

By now, all colonists should be aware of the RX tech caches and how the CDF is planning to retrieve them. The question, however, is if we really should retrieve them – or rather destroy the caches and everything in them. Let me clarify my opinion.

The caches contain technology developed by the RX units. Thinking, though probably unfeeling, synthetic beings. It is thought to be advanced enough to turn the tide in our direction, or the robots' direction, depending on who gets them first. But do we really want technology that is apparently dangerous enough for the RX units to not only hide from robots and humans alike, but to decide not to use for themselves?

In the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation about the contents of the RX caches. Both the CDF and RDI report having no knowledge about the contents, but why then are they so eager to retrieve them? The answer, obviously, is that they do know.

Harbingers. While the official CDF line is to deny knowledge, internal sources say that the robots obtained the technology needed to create these abominations from one cache. ONE. Imagine what a whole bunch of them could contain. Imagine what horrors could be unleashed upon our world, should the rest be opened.

Can we trust the Federal Empire, the Calypso Colonial Administration, the CDF, to keep this technology out of enemy hands? For that matter, can we trust them with it?

CDF URGENT NEWS

Only hours ago, robot forces launched multiple attacks against CDF excavation sites, using teleporters connected to the Hadesheim Core. It appears that CDF has unfortunately severely underestimated the robot force’s capabilities. Our analysts now believe that The Core may have been built specifically to allow quick insertion of robot forces on Calypso to retrieve the RX caches.

CDF forces are being routed at all points. Federal Imperial forces are unable to assist, due to political reasons (any larger Imperial forces landing on Calypso may cause massive riots by colonists, as it would be seen as an attempt to assume direct control, bypassing the colonial administrations).

Therefore, we ask that any combat-capable colonists travel to the coordinates listed below to assist in keeping these excavation sites secure while intelligence is gathered.

CDF General Announcement

Careful review of the Data Storage Units (DSUs) recovered from The Core below Hadesheim earlier this year has yielded intriguing results. Each DSU apparently contains information about the location of technology caches, as well as instructions on how to open them. Further, evidence suggests that the technology in these caches was developed by the RX units during their alliance with the robots before the War Titan event, then hidden as their pact dissolved.

Determined to retrieve these caches before the robots, the CDF and RDI have jointly dispatched excavation teams to the sites mentioned in the DSUs. To prevent the robots from reaching the target sites first, multiple teams standing by to assist.
