Other tools are also necessary to practice this profession:

- A Hair Stylist Toolkit.
- A Face Sculpting Toolkit.
- Face Masks and cosmetic products for Make Up Application.
Raw Materials
A range of raw materials are also necessary when performing these tasks including:
- Body fat for increasing the mass of an avatars body or face.
- Basic skin color set.
- Hair spray.
- Hair gel.
- Basic hair color set.
- Basic eye color set.
- Metallic bone replacements.
- A range of cosmetic products including foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, lipstick, rouge, powder and face paint.
As a customer, once you've chosen the procedure you wish to have performed, its time to take your place in the appropriate piece of furniture (make up application does not require specific furniture equipment, see below for make up details). You can sit down on/activate the furniture by right clicking on it and choosing Sit Down On from the interaction menu. To get out of a chair, right click and choose Control -> Navigation -> Stand Stop from the interaction menu.
Once seated, the beautician will approach you with the appropriate toolkit and a Beautician Panel Beautician Panel
Accessed when beauty operations are being performed
This generic panel is accessed when beauty operations (hair styling, cosmetic surgery for face and body) are being performed.
The beautician will pass control of the panel to you during the operation, where you can make adjustments by choosing the body area at the top, and the level of manipulation in the circular manipulation area.
As a customer the panel will initially appear 'grayed out'. This is because control of the procedure begins on the beautician's side. This will change later on in the procedure.
For this tutorial we will describe hairstyling. Body and Face Sculpting follow a similar procedure. Make up application is described below.
Using the Beautician Panel, the beautician will begin performing the tasks you have requested. Once satisfied, the beautician will add necessary raw materials e.g. hair spray, hair gel etc., and set a price.
The beautician will also see the success rate (SR) for this procedure. The success rate is based on the beautician's skills and the amount of raw materials added for the procedure.
Once the beautician is satisfied with the procedure, he/she will transfer control of the procedure over to the customer by pressing the Propose button.
The customer now has control and may continue to adjust the procedure and review the price and success rate. As a customer in control of the procedure and making changes, it is important to Propose the changes back to the beautician before Accepting. The beautician does not see the changes made until the Propose button is pressed.
Should changes have been made, the customer may Propose new changes back to the beautician, or press the Accept button to accept the beautician's original proposition.
Don't be afraid to use the Propose button. It's a good way to show your beautician what look you are aiming for, and maybe ask for his/her opinion. Control can be shifted many times between both parties using the Propose button, and it is the customer who has the final word by pressing the Accept button.
Initiate a make up procedure by targeting another avatar and using the 'Start/Stop Make Up' action from the 'Beauty' section of your Action Library Action Library Make Up Panel
Default Key: Y
The Action Library is an easily accessible collection of all available actions your avatar can perform.
Use the colored book marks at the bottom to access the different action categories, and the left and right arows to browse category pages.
Simply click an icon in the Action Library to initiate the action.
The Make Up Panel
Opens automatically after pressing the 'Start/Stop Make Up' action from the 'Beauty' section of your Action Library
Place empty Make Up Masks in the Make Up Panel. The Materials Value and Transfer Cost are displayed throughout the make up procedure.
- Place an unused Make Up Mask in the designated area in the Make Up panel.
- Drag the cosmetic product you wish to apply from your Inventory Inventory Your Inventory is used to store the different items you need to use during your adventures on Calypso. Your items are automatically sorted into compartments like clothing, armor, weapons etc., which can be viewed by clicking the compartment tabs on the right.
Default Key: I
The icons in the lower right area can be used to organize your Inventory, display only equipped items, view your avatar or place your avatar in camera focus.
The current weight of your Inventory and your PED account balance are also displayed for convenience. Dont forget that the weight of your Inventory will determine how quickly your avatar can move - something to bear in mind when exploring mutant settlements or dark woods - because there will be times when you want to get moving quickly.
- Press and hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse to apply the cosmetic to the avatar's face.
- Use the 'Increase Brush Size' and 'Decrease Brush Size' actions from your Action Library to change the size of your application brush. You may also map a 'Toggle Brush Size' action to any key, which while depressed allows you to increase or decrease the brush size using your mouse wheel.
- Select further cosmetics and repeat the process as desired.
The Materials Value (value of cosmetic materials used in Make Up Mask creation) and Transfer Cost (transfer cost of completed Make Up Mask to Entropia Universe servers) are displayed in the Make Up panel through out the procedure.
Make Up Masks are created locally on your computer and transferred to the Entropia Universe servers when satisfied. More detailed Make Up Masks will incur a higher Transfer Cost. In order to avoid the loss of cosmetic materials due to a failed transfer which may be caused by firewall settings, poor internet connection or security software the Materials Value is always transferred to your avatar's account.
Once satisfied press 'Accept' to proceed.
You will be asked to confirm your choice and approve Materials Value and Transfer Cost. By choosing 'Yes' the finished Make Up Mask will be transferred to your Inventory, the Materials Value transferred to your account and the Transfer Cost drawn from your account.
If the upload fails, no upload costs will be charged, but the materials will be consumed i.e. the Materials Value will be transferred to your account and the materials cannot be retrieved.
The different cosmetic materials i.e. foundation, eye shadow etc. have different values and application costs.
Different light settings will effect how make up appears. For example lip gloss will be more sensitive to different lighting conditions.
Make Up Masks are unisex and can be used on both male and female avatars.
Make Up Masks cannot be edited once created and transferred.
Make Up Masks have a condition limit of 90% and are deteriorated each time they are placed on an avatar's face.
A make up model can always abort a make up session using the 'Abort MakeUp Session' action from the Action Library.
Cosmetic material amounts are always decreased by one unit following their use on a Make Up Mask regardless of the amount they are used on the particular Make Up Mask.
